micromacro, 20-21

ongoing project
mixed technique on paper, various sizes

A curve, a hinge, a handle, a knurling, a joint, a cap, a groove, a switch, a pin, a lever. Everything is meant to be manipulated. All we use is an idea that has been materialized for and through the hand and the result of long processes of design decisions, inventions and technologies handed down.
The micromacro series picks up a portion of an object, translating the detail into an architectural and monumental scale.
It develops like an inventory of shapes that catch my attention for several reasons. I dwell for a long time on the components of objects that I find interesting through still life drawing. As a reverse design approach I mentally break down their geometries in order to grasp the mechanisms and ideas behind those artifacts, so I can transform them into something else.
