Staged, 2018

photographic series, baryta photo paper

Within the space of my studio I elaborate dramatic scenes, as if they were theatrical stages or movie sets. The atmosphere is recreated through a subtraction process with the aid of a few minimal elements, simple paper structures and light. The staging shapes the space, altering the relationships of scale and depth within the image, which becomes not easily understandable. I’m interested in how photographic image is a witness of reality and at the same time alters it, representing a constant enigma that questions our perception.
